It has been about a week since I've painted anything and I felt a little rusty. But good to be back in it.

Really liked a photo from national geographic so I decided to sketch it out

Sketch of Adam Scott in Caesin, first time using it for a portrait type painting.

Saturday, August 24, 2013

I will probably start scanning these in as the colours and values don't translate very well.

A sketch of a bird posted from "I f*#cking love science" on Facebook.  Lilac-brested Roller, that eats scorpions! so cool.  Started out with watercolour, and then acrylic and finished in casein.

Wanted to try sketching a quick fish before bed...and the scales were taking to long so I did them very quickly but a fun sketch still.

Could not get a good photo of this quick landscape sketch.  Going to turn this into a full painting, and will probably keep some of the colours more saturated but wanted to do a quick colour study for reference.  The pic I took with my phone killed a lot of the colour unfortunately.

A fun project I did for the Alberta College of Art and Design at the Calgary Comic Expo.  These little characters were part of a who's who type scavenger hunt field guide.  The objective was to create characters you may actually see at the Expo. The inking is traditional and the colours are digital.

Speed paint of a little ant eater. First time using casein so just did a fast study about 20 minutes.

Had a root canal last week so didn't do much. Found a photograph on mangle so thought I would do a sketch this morning.

I wanted to try painting that Rolling Stone cover with a different colour scheme to see if it had any different effects.  Still just a short study but its kind of interesting

First time using watercolour and gouache did a study of a little maquette, hopefully going to try doing some landscapes in the next couple days.

Some Figure drawing experimentation.  Some studies are acrylic, watercolour, charcoal, graphite, ink, or pen.  Just trying some different techniques and mediums.  These are also from quite a while ago.

An assortment of sketches from a while ago, that I wanted to put up.  Done in either watercolour, ink or acrylic.
